What's funded, and what you should know

The state may cover

  • AI discovery β€” up to 50% (max $5,000)
  • Employee AI training β€” up to 50% (max $20,000)
  • Staff time for no-cost awareness training β€” $1,000/employee (up to $10,000)

  • You choose your provider and submit your own application
  • Paid as a reimbursement β€” you pay, then the state reimburses the eligible share

How much might the state cover?

Up to 50% of eligible costs β€” up to $5,000 for discovery and up to $20,000 for training β€” plus $1,000/employee (up to $10,000) toward staff time for no-cost awareness training. Amounts and approval are set by DLR.

Who's eligible?

South Dakota for-profit businesses, non-profits, and public-sector employers with a presence in the state. DLR determines eligibility.

Do I have to use a specific trainer?

No β€” you choose your own qualified provider and submit your own application. (We're a South Dakota–based AI training + implementation provider.)

What's the deadline?

The first application deadline is August 7, 2026. Training is completed by June 30, 2027.
